Inside Loop: Proud Co-Sponsors of the Recent 2010 UK National Yo-Yo Contest.

This year saw another massive leap in skill and lots of new players entering their first contest. Dealing with nerves in never easy, particularly in a competitive setting but everyone did a great job overcoming the onstage adrenaline.

The first day was the ladder division, which gave lots of new players a chance to trying their hand at competing. The 1min 1A freestyles were very competitive and sadly not everyone could qualify (including our logo designer Simmy).

The next day was a lot busier…

In the X division there were lots of great performances but Langley and his SoloHam antics really made us happy! Great to see so many people trying their hand at other Yo-Yo styles. Luke Roberts did two great performances in both X and 2A divisions beating your very own correspondent to take first place in AA as well as X. We will be doing a feature on Luke with in the next couple of months.

But 1A was where the real competition lay; with so many great players coming up through the scene it was never going to be easy for Yuji to retain his 1A crown. Armani, Corli, Matthew (Gallacher) and Yuji all put in great performances but it took Krisztian Kalusza (who’s been winning contests all over Europe it seems!) to step up and claim first place with an unquestionably winning freestyle. World 3A champion Kentaro Kimura was the guest international judge and did an amazing performance. We look forward to the next time we can marvel at his skills!

In such a tight contest not everyone can place as they’d like but we were really impressed with everyone. We are eager to see the improvement in skill level at the next UK contest!

See you there!
