10) Bomb Squad Blog / Facebook / – The Bomb Squad is run by Paul Han, long time Yo-Yo player, YoYoFactory Boy and hipster aficionado. Paul updates his blog fairly frequently with Yo-Yo news from his part of the word (San Francisco) along with other things that make him tick (girls, skateboards, sport and other bits). Highlighting the more urban side of Yo-Yoing it’s interesting to see where things are headed.
9) YoYoNation – Forum – Seems to be the place people go to these days however there are a lot of forums out there and which is hot and which is not seems to change fairly often. Still if you want to PM Steve Brown or post a question about the history of the free hand patent this seems to be the place to go.
8.) DocPop – Blog / Twitter – There are lots of Yo-Yo related individuals worth following (Augie, Jensen Kimmitt, Mark Hayward, Rei Iwakura, Taka etc.) but DocPop aka Brian C. Roberts, is a true creative. You never really know what will come next from DocPop but for sure it will be good (and sometimes Yo-Yo related)! Defiantly worth following.
7) YoYoZee – Blog - A nice resource run by UK online store owner Richie Windsor. The news page isn’t too sales pushy and has some worthwhile interviews and good European contest coverage. Worth taking a look at every two weeks or so.
6) YoYo Wiki – Site – Wikipedia is one of the biggest sites on the net and there are probably 1000′s of facts to be said about it. The Yo-Yoers version is a little smaller in scale but just as useful. Great for the eager new player looking to find out who is world champion or for the National Master looking for a little history on the YoYoJam range. Dig in, learn and eventually contribute to a noble cause.
5) Yama18 – YouTube – Back in 2000(?) Yama put up some AA practice clips from some of the best players on the planet, 10 years on and the YouTube account is full to the brim with amazing contest freestyle videos. Well worth subscribing.
4) YoYoFactory – Blog / Twitter / YouTube – If like 99.9% of the Yo-Yo community you are obssesed with the ever diverse team of players and Yo-Yos that Ben McPhee and Hans have put together then you probably know that the YoYoFactory Blog is worth checking up once a week or more. But you might not know about their Twitter feed which has a slightly more personal touch than their blog. It’s also one of the best video channels to watch when a major contest is going on as the YYF boys like to get the winning freestlyes up F.A.S.T. (see what we did there!?).
3) Singapore Yoing - Blog / Facebook – Appeared at the start of 2008 , since then has been filling the web with gossip and fact from Asia and beyond. Almost ‘a portal to the east’ for western speaking players who find translating mandarin through google a little bothersome, well worth bookmarking.
2) Sector Y – Blog / Facebook / Twitter – Early 2000 saw the rise to fame of Sector_Y. Run by Citadel aka Gabriel Lozano, the site became the most influential Yo-Yo site with ground breaking videos that still send shivers through the world wide Yo-Yo community today. The videos released are always of top notch in either cinematic style or technical trickery and sometimes both! A 100% must view for any Yo-Yo player.
1) YoYoSkills Site / Facebook / Twitter – YoYoSkills, run by Dr. YoYo aka Chris Allen is the ultimate in Yo-Yo news. Updated almost everyday, filled with new releases, gossip, latest video releases, reviews, contest coverage, ideas and creative projects. If there was just one place for a Yo-Yo player to visit on the net then YoYoSkills would be that place. Well done DoctorYoYo, keep up the good work!
Oh and if that doesn’t fill your day enough we also recommend…
Arron Sparks – Blog / Twitter – Arron is a Yo-Yo professional and juggler and posts news about where his ‘job’ has taken him, what he’s currently throwing and what’s going on in the UK Yo-Yo scene.
Inside Loop – Site / FaceBook / Twitter / YouTube - Two professionals who spend their time playing with Yo-Yos. Probably worth a visit
